Cherry Hill Police Reports
May 2006
May 30th – A burglary was reported by a homeowner on Lark Lane at 12:10 pm. The homeowner mentioned that their dog barked at 3:00 am and that a sliding window in the kitchen was open. A cell phone and woman’s handbag with a check book, $30 in cash, driver’s license and credit cards was reported stolen.
May 30th – A home on Galloping Hill Road was reported burglarized between midnight and 6:00 am. A wallet with ID and credit cards, cell phone, palm pilot and camera were reported missing.
May 29th – Police were called to the Landmark Apartments at 11:36 pm at the report of attempted vehicle theft. The steering column on a 1989 Dodge Dynasty was damaged when someone tried to start it with a screwdriver.
May 29th – Police were called to Guenardis on Kings Highway at 5:44 pm. A 39 yr old male attempted to shoplift $536 in razor blades. He was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting.
May 29th – Police responded to a theft call at 12:48 pm on Lantern Lane. A registration and insurance card were stolen from an unlock vehicle.
May 29th – At 12:46 pm, police ran a random NCIC lookup on a NJ license plate and the plate was reported as “not on file”. Police stopped the vehicle on Route 38 and observed the driver appear to be putting something in his mouth. As police approached the vehicle, they saw the driver try and conceal a glass pipe in a cigarette pack in clear view. As the driver exited the car, he threw the cigarette pack out the passenger window. Police recovered the glass pipe from the cigarette pack and also found crack cocaine in the car. The 43 yr old male was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic offenses. The suspect had numerous outstanding traffic warrants and was transported to Williamstown and was taken into custody by Egg Harbor Township Police.
May 29th – Cherry Hill Nissan called police to report three cars burglarized. A 1997 Ford Expedition had a rear passenger window smashed and a stereo stolen. Two other cars (1996 Nissan Ultima and a 1990 Nissan 300 ZX) also had their stereos removed, but the cars were unlocked.
May 29th – Target on Route 38 reported a shoplifter at 9:05 am. The shoplifter, a 25 yr old female, was caught by store security and turned over to police. $129 in baby formula was recovered.
May 28th – A customer at the Silver Diner called police at 12:09 am to report a cell phone valued at $300 was stolen.
May 27th – A 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported stolen from the LA Fitness parking lot on Route 38 at 12:57 pm. Additional items that were in the car and also reported stolen included $100 in cash, a cell phone valued at $150, a Game Boy valued at $100 and a Walkman valued at $100. The keys to the car were stolen out of a locker inside LA Fitness. The car was later recovered in the parking lot of Sam Ash Music on Route 38.
May 27th – A second locker at LA Fitness was also broken into and $90 in cash and a driver’s license were reported missing.
May 27th – An employee of the Gap Store in the Cherry Hill Mall reported witnessing a woman conceal items in her purse at 3:54 pm. When confronted by store employees, she ran from the store. Police located the 45 yr old woman and the three children she had with her in a bathroom. One of the children kept stating “my mommy stole, please don’t arrest her”. Additional merchandise from Express, Disney Store and Le Gourmet Chef was found as well. Another woman shopping with the suspect took custody of the suspect’s child plus her own two children.
May 27th – Police responded to a report of an argument between a man and a woman at Route 70 and Pine Tree Plaza. The couple had been at a wedding and had gotten lost and they started to argue. The man, 30 yr old, refused to follow police commands and became combative. He was charged with disorderly conduct and DWI.
May 27th – A purse was reported stolen from a car on Park Drive. $100 in cash, credit cards and a driver’s license were reported missing.
May 27th – An employee of Toys R Us on Route 38 called police at 1:55 pm to report a female walked out of the store with large bags of merchandise.
May 26th – Blockbuster Video on Route 38 called police at 9:30 pm to report a theft of DVDs. The suspect was a male who fled in a white Chevy Lumina.
May 26th – At 8:30 pm, police at the Cherry Hill Mall observed a male running through the mall carrying two boxes of shoes. The male was being pursued by store security from Kohl’s Department Store. Police caught the suspect, a 36 yr old male and charged him with theft. At this time store security informed police that there was a second suspect. The second suspect, a 39 yr old male, was captured a short time later at Cherry Hill Towers and charged with shoplifting and possession of burglary tools. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant and was transported to Camden County Jail.
May 26th – A boy's mountain bike reported stolen from a home on Charleston Road at 4:03 pm.
May 26th – A cell phone valued at $200 was reported stolen at 1:00 pm from the Food Court at the Cherry Hill Mall.
May 25th – Police were patrolling the parking lot of the Pathmark on Church Road when a customer informed police of a scuffle inside Pathmark. When police entered the store, they found store security with a female suspect in custody. The women informed police she had hypodermic needles in her under clothing. $200 worth or merchandise was also recovered. The female suspect had an outstanding arrest warrant and was transported to Camden County Jail. She was charged with shoplifting and possession of a hypodermic needle.
May 25th – The American Lube on Berlin Road reported vandalism to three cars on their lot. The vandalism occurred between 10:00 pm on May 24th and 7:40 am on May 25th. A 1995 Ford Van had a left rear window broken and the dashboard was damaged. A 1993 Ford Explorer had a rear window broken. A 1992 Jeep Wrangler had a passenger window broken. Nothing seemed to be missing from inside the cars. A security camera on the lot was also damaged.
May 25th – Police reported to a call of vandalism at the Extended Stay on Route 70 at 5:51 am. Police observed a cracked front windshield, a dented roof and a rock sitting on the hood of the car. The damage occurred between 11:00 pm and 5:30 am.
May 24th – While on patrol, police were flagged down by an employee of the Rite Aid on Cooper Landing Road at 10:26 pm. The employee informed police that a male just left the store without paying for merchandise. Police ordered the male to stop, but he fled on foot. After a short chase, he was apprehended and placed under arrest. $137 in merchandise was recovered.
May 23rd – A homeowner reported lawn lights stolen from a home on Pleasant Drive at 10:21 pm. The lights had a value of $150.
May 23rd – A 2002 Chevy Silverado was reported stolen at 4:03 pm from the National Guard Armory on Park Blvd.
May 23rd – Police arrested an 18 yr old man for trespassing at the Colonial Apartments at 3:34 pm. The man had been arrested before for trespassing at the same location.
May 23rd – Police conducted a car stop at 12:09 pm due to a drive not wearing his seat belt. As police approached the car, the odor of burnt marijuana was noticed coming from the car. During a search of the car, rolling papers and a clear glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana were found. One of the occupants was observed holding two clear ziplock bags. The bags contained 18 clear capsules with a brownish powder substance. Police also found two backpacks in the trunk of the car with the distinct odor of raw marijuana emanating from them. The car was towed to police headquarters and ecstasy, hashish and mushrooms were found in the backpacks. Suspect #1, a 23 yr old male, was charged with possession of ecstasy, possession of hashish and distribution. Suspect #2, a 23 yr old male, was charged with possession of ecstasy, possession of hashish and distribution. Suspect #3, a 22 yr old male, was charged with possession of hashish. Suspect #4, a 34 yr old male, was charged with possession of ecstasy, resisting and distribution. Suspect #5, a 19 yr old female, was charged with distribution, possession of ecstasy and possession of hashish.
May 21st – A wallet, driver’s license, credit cards and ID card were reported stolen from a car parked on N. Valleybrook Road.
May 19th – Police conducted a car stop at 7:07 pm due to an expired registration. Occupants of the car got out as the car pulled over and were ordered back into the car by police. Police then observed a plastic sandwich bag with several clear plastic bags containing small white rocks lying by the curb of the car that was stopped. Police questioned all three occupants of the car and the female occupant said she didn’t know the two males. She explained she had just met them at Dunkin’ Donuts. She confirmed the bag found by the curb was displayed to her by one of the males. Field tests later confirmed the substance to be cocaine. The first male suspect, 18 yr old, was charged with contempt and hindering. The second male suspect, also 18 yr old, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Both males had outstanding arrest warrants.
May 19th – Rite Aid on Cooper Landing Road called Police to report a shoplifter at 1:00 pm. Baby formula valued at $245 was stolen and the female suspect fled on foot and escaped.
May 18th – Police responded to EDS on Woodcrest Road at 1:58 pm when (11) 175 watt lights valued at $2,750 were stolen. An unknown male was observed on security video removing the lights.
May 18th – Pathmark on Church Road reported a shoplifter at 1:14 pm. The shoplifter, a 26 yr old female, was caught by store security and turned over to police. Over the counter medication valued at $411 was recovered. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant.
May 17th – Target on Route 38 called police to report a shoplifter at 3:56 pm. The shoplifter fled on foot and evaded capture by store security. Police located the 20 yr old female suspect in the bathroom at the Silver Diner and placed her under arrest. Her purse was recovered from the store containing eight memory cards of undetermined value that had been removed from packaging and a hypodermic syringe.
May 17th – Walmart on Route 38 called police at 5:09 pmto report two male (24 and 27 yr old) suspects in custody. Store security observed them cutting open DVD packaging and concealing the DVDs on their person. Both males had outstanding warrants and were transported to Camden County Jail.
May 17th - At 2:19 am, a female at the Garden State Pavilions reported to police that a male stole her wallet. Police transported the female to the Top Dog on Route 70 to see if she could identify the male. After a little while, the male exited the Top Dog and was positively identified by the female as the man who stole her wallet and he was placed under arrest. During the arrest, another woman approached police and reported the same man had stolen $190 and a cell phone from her. The second female’s friends approached the suspect inside the bar and recovered her cell phone, but the suspect refused to return the stolen cash. The 25 yr old male was charged with theft complaints, resisting arrest and making terroristic threats against police. He was transported to Camden County Jail
May 16th – Police on patrol ran a random NCIC check on a car in the parking lot of the Feather Nest Inn on Hampton Road at 7:52 pm. The plate came back as stolen out of Camden and police questioned the car’s owner, a 24 yr old woman. When the woman was reaching for her driver’s license in her purse, police noticed a glass vile with a black lid inside her purse. The vile had a brownish substance inside that looked wet. The woman was placed under arrest and her 3 yr old daughter was picked up by her sister. The brownish substance turned out to be marijuana soaked with PCP. The woman was charged with receiving stolen property, possession of PCP, possession of marijuana and transported to the Camden County Jail. The suspect also had three outstanding arrest warrants in Collingswood and Camden. May 16th – An Alpine car stereo valued at $300 was reported stolen from a 1997 Honda Accord parked at the Bocca De Peppo restaurant on Route 38. The driver’s side window was broken. May 16th – A green Lexus was reported vandalized on the Cherry Hill Mall parking lot between 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm. The driver’s side window was smashed, but nothing was reported stolen. May 15th – Ritz Camera in the Cherry Hill Mall reported a theft of $1,000 in cameras by three males who fled the scene Westbound on Route 38 in a green Honda Civic. Pennsauken Police stopped a car matching the description and four cameras were in plain view on the backseat. An employee of Ritz Camera identified two of the suspects. All three suspects (21, 23 and 38 yr old males) were charged with receiving stolen merchandise and transported to Camden County Jail. The driver (38 yr old) also had an outstanding warrant. May 15th – Police responded to a one car accident at 9:12 am on Springdale and Evesham roads. The driver, a 43 yr old male, informed CHFD that he took Oxycontin and Percocet prior to driving the car and was hospitalized. Pill bottles found in the car has a different name than tie driver. The car was impounded and May 14th – A 2002 Chrysler was vandalized while parked overnight on West Eagle Lane. The driver’s side mirror was damaged. May 13th – A 1994 Acura Integra was reported stolen from the Lowes Theatre parking lot between 11:00 pm and midnight. May 13th – Bailey, Banks and Biddle in the Cherry Hill Mall reported a theft of a loose cut diamond valued at more than $27,000. The suspect escaped in a newer Ford Expedition or Excursion. The diamond was recovered at the scene. May 13th – Police observed an erratic motorist in Cherry Hill Mall parking lot. When police stopped the car to question the driver, an odor of marijuana was noticed. The driver told police he and his passenger were smoking a “blunt” (blunt - a cigar that has been hollowed and refilled with marijuana). Both males (19 and 22 yrs old) were charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. May 13th – A 1993 Buick was reported vandalized on Murray Avenue. The roof of the car was dented. Footprints were observed on the hood, roof and trunk. May 13th – A car passed police at 2:31 am on Park Blvd without dimming it’s high beams. A random DMV check of the license plates revealed that the owner of the car had outstanding traffic warrants. When police stopped the vehicle, open containers of alcohol were visible. During questioning, police told the passenger (also the car’s owner) to keep her hands on the dashboard numerous times. The woman failed to comply and she resisted arrest when police tried to handcuff her. After handcuffing, a routine weapon search turned up an object in the suspect’s front pocket. When police tried to remove the object, the suspect resisted again. A plastic baggy containing white powder was recovered. The white powder later tested positive for cocaine. The male driver was charged with failure to dim high beams, driving while suspended, unlicensed/expired and possession of an open container of alcohol. The 47 yr old woman was charged with possession of cocaine, resisting arrest and failure to make a lawful disposition. May 12th – Police responded to complaint at 8:14 pm on Hampton Road. A 1994 Ford Taurus was reported stolen. May 12th – Rite Aid on Cooper Landing Road called Police to report a shoplifter at 5:50 pm. The shoplifter, a 21 yr old male, was caught by store security and turned over to police. Baby formula valued at $25 was recovered. May 12th - Victoria's Secret in the Cherry Hill Mall reported a theft of more than $1,303 in perfume and fragrances. May 11th – A boys BMX bike valued at $500 was reported stolen from a bike rack at the Cherry Hill Library. May 11th – JCPenneys in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a shoplifter was being detained. The shoplifter, a 61 yr old female, complained of chest pain and was taken to JFK Hospital by the Cherry Hill Fire Department. $378 in merchandise was recovered. May 11th – Target on Route 38 reported a shoplifter at 6:14 pm. The shoplifter, a 28 yr old male, was caught by store security and turned over to police. An external hard drive valued at $120 was recovered. May 11th – JCPenneys in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a shoplifter at 3:07 pm. The shoplifter, a 24 yr old male, was caught by store security and turned over to police. $426 in merchandise was recovered. May 11th – Cherry Hill Toyota on Haddonfield Road call police to report three wheels and tires were stolen from a 2006 Toyota Avalon. May 10th – The GAP in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report their security guards were chasing two shoplifters across the mall parking lot. Police captured one of the suspects with stolen merchandise and he then led police to a parked car with two additional suspects. The car contained stolen merchandise from many Cherry Hill Mall stores, including GAP, JCPenneys, Macys, Old Navy and Nine West. The first suspect was charged with shoplifting and the two suspects in the car were charged with receiving stolen merchandise. May 10th – Police were called to investigate a suspicious person at the Howard Johnson Inn on Route 70. Police observed a man hiding behind a bush. The suspect seemed disoriented during questioning and was unable to walk a straight line. When searched for weapons, a hypodermic needle and bag containing brownish white powder fell out of his pant cuff (this brownish white powder later tested positive for heroin). Due to his medical condition, the suspect was transported to JFK Hospital for evaluation. The suspect became combative with police and medical personal and had to be restrained. He verbally threatened police while being restrained. A warrant check revealed two outstanding arrest warrants and the suspect was taken to Camden County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a hypodermic needle. May 10th – Police responded to a call that a 1999 Mercury Cougar was covered in spray paint while parked in a driveway on King George Road. The vandalism occurred between 9:30 pm on 5/9 and 8:00 am on 5/10. May 10th – A trailer hitch of unknown value was reported stolen between 6:30 pm on 5/9 and 8:15 am on 5/10 from a truck parked on Berlin Road. May 9th – Tools were reported stolen from a truck parked on Woodstock Drive between 3:30 pm on May 8th and 6:00 am on May 9th. May 9th – Rite Aid on Route 70 called police to report a suspicious man removing license plates on a car parked on their lot and a shoplifter. Security Guards chased the shoplifter out of the store, but the suspect was unable to get in the car that was waiting. After a brief search, police located a man hiding behind a tree at St. Andrew’s Church. The man still had the stolen merchandise in his possession. Police then located the car parked on Township Lane. The car had NJ plates before, but now had PA plates. A male walked up to police and asked why they were standing by his car. Security Guards confirmed this was the same man they had seen in their lot switching plates and the suspect was also arrested. May 9th – Police responded to stolen vehicle call at the Waterford Apartment complex. A resident reported a 1992 Mitsubishi Diamante stolen between May 4th and May 8th. May 8th – Victoria's Secret in the Cherry Hill Mall reported a theft of numerous items totaling $621. May 8th – Police responded to a home burglary complaint on Warren Avenue. Items including a digital camera and costume jewelry were reported stolen. May 6th – Numerous residents on Lloyd Avenue called police to lodge a complaint about vehicle break-ins. Loose change was reported stolen from each car. May 6th – Police responded to stolen vehicle call at the Italian Bistro on Route 38. A 1994 Honda Civic was reported stolen between the hours of 2:00 pm and 11:00 pm. May 6th – Limited Too in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a theft. More than $800 in merchandise was reported stolen. May 6th – Victoria's Secret in the Cherry Hill Mall reported a theft of more than $600 in merchandise. May 6th – Ann Taylor in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a theft. More than $3,000 in merchandise was reported stolen. May 6th – Macys in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a shoplifter. The shoplifter was caught by store security and turned over to police. $156 in merchandise was recovered. May 6th – Target on Route 38 called police to report a shoplifter was being held in custody. $135 in merchandise was reported stolen. May 6th – Police responded to a vandalism call for a car parked on Kingswood Court. The rear window was smashed and the area around the window was damaged. May 6th – An XM satellite radio was reported stolen from a car parked on Johns Road. May 6th – A 2004 Mercedes-Benz parked at the Top Dog on Route 70 was reported damaged. The window was smashed and the front grill was cracked. May 5th – Police responded to a home burglary complaint on Old Orchard Road. Items valued at more than $30,000 were reported stolen. Some of the items included a digital camera, laptop computer, video games, jewelry and a handgun. May 4th – A bird bath valued at $40 was reported stolen from a home on Bala Road. May 4th – Two Yamaha ATVs were reported stolen from a home on Willis Avenue. May 3rd – A girls bike valued at $135 was reported stolen from a home on Apley Drive. May 3rd – A car containing two males was parked behind the Windsor Towers. The two males were acting suspiciously and police choose to investigate further. After questioning the individuals, police found rolling papers and a bag containing marijuana inside the car. Police charged one of the males with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. May 3rd – JCPenneys in the Cherry Hill Mall called police to report a shoplifter. The shoplifter was caught by store security and turned over to police. $235 in clothing and jewelry were reported stolen. May 3rd – Police stopped a vehicle at 12:46 am on Route 38 and Longwood Avenue. The stop resulted in the arrest of one individual who was charged with possession of a CDS (controlled dangerous substances) under 50 grams. May 2nd – Police responded to a report of a car being burglarized. The car was parked at the Ellisburg Shopping Center on Kings Highway. The owner reported college books valued at more than $800 and a $200 MP3 player stolen. May 2nd – Genardi’s on Kings Highway reported a theft of baby formula valued at more than $100. May 2nd – The manager of TGI Friday’s on Route 38 reported four kegs stolen from a fenced area behind the restaurant. May 1st – Two kegs were reported stolen from the Applebee’s on Haddonfield Road. A store employee witnessed the theft. May 1st – Change was reported stolen from a cark parked on Richard Road. May 1st - Police were called to a home on Bruce Road to investigate a report of a theft from a vehicle. A few bills and loose change were reported stolen.![]()
