Cherry Hill Police Reports
June 2006




July 5th - We learned this morning that Bud Tomlinson (from Cherry Hill Township Police Records) passed away on Sunday. Bud was with the Cherry Hill Police for almost 50 years and served as a Police Officer for 35 of those years. Our prayers are with Bud's family at their time of loss. Needless to say, there will be a delay in posting the Police Reports.

June 15th - JCPenney at the Cherry Hill Mall called police at 5:11 pm to report they were holding a female shoplifter in custody. The 31 yr old female was seen concealing items in her purse.

June 15th - Rite Aid at the Crossroads Plaza called police at 4:16 pm to report numerous medications were stolen.

June 15th - Police were notified at 2:23 pm that an unmarked Camden City police car was following a stolen 1997 Honda Accord into Cherry Hill. Cherry Hill police stopped the car as it exited the Coast Line Restaurant on Brace Road. The 33 yr old driver was placed under arrest and the car was searched. A cigar containing marijuana and a large sum of money was found. The driver was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled dangerous substance under 50 grams.

June 14th - Pathmark on Church Road called police at 11:46 am to report their store security was chasing a suspect. The suspect was captured by members of the Cherry Hill Fire Department near Eckenhoff Buick. The 24 yr old male was charged with robbery and bail was set at $50,000. He was transported to Camden County Jail. Merchandise worth more than $1,091 was reported stolen.

June 13th - Police were called to a home on Tearose Lane at 8:10 am. A 1992 Honda Accord that was parked on the street in front of the home had a Sirrus radio and an iPod stolen.

June 12th - Stop & Shop on Brace Road called police at 2:05 pm to report a shoplifter was in custody. A 29 yr old male was charged with shoplifting. $348 in merchandise was recovered.

June 12th - Target on Route 38 called police to report a shoplifting in custody. The 24 yr old male was charged with shoplifting.

June 12th - Bath & Body Works in the Cherry Hill Mall called police at 10:21 am to report $897 of merchandise missing.

June 11th - Police responded to three different reports of theft from a vehicle at the Holiday Inn on Route 70 at 9:28 pm. A 2001 Toyota Corolla was broken into and a car stereo and $150 was reported stolen. A 1995 Nissan 240 had a Kenwood car stereo valued at $350, an amplifier and a subwoofer stolen. The dashboard was also heavily damaged in the theft. Finally, a 1996 Ford Probe suffered an unsuccessful theft of a car stereo.

June 11th - Macy’s at the Cherry Hill Mall called police at 6:52 pm to report they had two shoplifters in custody. A 53 yr old male was charged with shoplifting and possession of burglary tools and a 39 yr old female was charged with shoplifting.

June 11th - Police were called at 6:27 pm by Khols on Route 38 to report a shoplifting in progress. When police arrived they were told the suspects fled in a black Ford Bronco. Police located the Bronco in the parking lot and conducted a stop of the vehicle. A 43 yr old male was charged with shoplifting. $390 in shoes were recovered.

June 11th - Police discovered an occupied car parked between businesses at 2:16 am while on routine patrol at the Colwick Business Park on Haddonfield Road. When questioned by police, the driver stated he had a couple beers and decided to get off the road. Police observed numerous loose pieces of a white colored rock-like substance on the driver’s lap. The 45 yr old male was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 10th - A woman living at the Habitat Apartments on Park Blvd. called police at 9:08 pm to report her 8 yr old son was attacked and bitten by a dog being walked by another resident. The child was transported to West Jersey Camden Hospital.

June 10th - Police responded to a vandalism call at 3:53 am at the Howard Johnson on Route 70. As police approached the room in question, they witnessed a male exit the room carrying a plastic baggie with additional blue baggies inside. Police determined the blue baggies contained a controlled dangerous substance. The 19 yr old male was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.

June 9th - A 1992 Cadillac was stopped on Route 38 at 11:09 am due to a failed brake light. When asked for his license by police, the 33 yr old male driver admitted his driver’s license was suspended. A warrant check against the driver revealed many outstanding warrants and he was placed under arrest. During a search of the car, stolen license plates were found in the trunk. The driver was charged with receiving stolen property.

June 9th - While on patrol on Route 70, a random DMV check showed that the owner of a 1998 Jeep was wanted out of Luzerne County, PA. Police stopped the car and the driver identified herself as the owner. The 34 yr old female was placed under arrest and transported to Camden County Jail.

June 9th - AJ Wright on Route 38 called police at 6:09 pm to report they had a 22 yr old female shoplifter in custody. Various clothing valued at $40 was recovered. After she was placed under arrest, the search of her person revealed numerous plastic bags with a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine. She was charged with shoplifting and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

June 9th - Police responded to a report of vandalism at the 7:12 pm at the Executive Campus. A 1996 Ford Windstar had the rear driver’s window smashed.

June 9th - Sleepy’s on Kings Highway called police at 7:47 pm to report an attempted theft. Three males entered the store and tried to steal a lamb display. The display was an oversized stuffed lamb and is valued at more than $100. The males fled on bicycles.

June 9th - Police were called to the Loew’s Theatre on Route 38 at 8:16 pm. A 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier was vandalized. The rear window was smashed.

June 9th - Macy’s security called police at 9:50 pm to report they chased two male and one female shoplifting suspect into the parking lot after witnessing them conceal items in a booster bag. Store security caught the 30 yr old female suspect and turned her over to police. She was charges with shoplifting and possession of burglary tools.

June 8th - A Pioneer car stereo face plate was reported stolen from a 1995 Dodge Neon at the Loews Theatre on Route 38 at 11:00 pm.

June 8th - Wegman’s on Route 70 called police at 7:02 pm to report six juniper trees and five holly plants stolen.

June 8th - A car parked in the Cherry Hill Plaza parking lot had the driver’s side window broken. A stereo and CDs were reported stolen.

June 8th - The driver’s side window was broken on a 1988 Honda Accord parked in the Cherry Hill Plaza parking lot on Route 38. The dashboard of the car was damaged when someone had attempted to remove the stereo.

June 7th - An employee of Bed, Bath and Beyond at the new Garden State Park shopping center on Route 70 called police at 11:52 pm. A purse, credit cards, driver’s license, multiple Social Security cards, check book and a saxophone were reported stolen from a 2004 Ford F-15.

June 7th - A car stereo and 100 CDs were reported stolen from a 1998 Dodge Neon at the Loews Theatre on Route 38 at 11:50 pm.

June 7th - Police responded to a report of a suspicious person near a home on Coles Avenue at 10:32 pm. They noticed that the front door looked as if it had been kicked in and muddy footprints were found on the door. Police observed a male inside the dwelling standing next to a motorcycle. The male appeared to be intoxicated as he had trouble forming sentences and was slurring his words. He disobeyed police orders, became combative and attempted to flee. He was placed under arrest, charged with attempted burglary and transported to Camden County Jail.

June 7th - A male was witnessed trying to shoplift $31.47 in razors from Walgreens on Route 70. When confronted by a store employee, the suspect fled the store and was captured by police near Route 70. The 44 yr old male was charged with shoplifting.

June 6th - An insurance and registration card was reported missing from a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria parked on Wayne Avenue. The car was left unlocked.

June 6th - A Garmen GPS system was reported stolen from a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox parked in the driveway of a home on Manor House Drive. The car was left unlocked.

June 5th - The Ryder Truck Rental on Haddonfield reported a toolbox stolen from a truck being serviced.

June 4th - A mail box in the shape of a dog was reported stolen from a home on West Point Drive. The pole that held the mailbox was not stolen.

June 4th - A shopper in H&M at the Cherry Hill Mall called police at 6:59 pm to report a stolen purse. $500 in gift cards, credit cards, passport, NJ Driver’s License, Social Security card and a Green card were missing.

June 4th - A 2002 GMC Envoy was broken into between 10:30 pm on June 3rd and 12:00 pm on June 4th. Headphones and $10 in cash was reported missing.

June 4th - Shop Rite on Route 70 called police to report a female who attempted prescription fraud. Police were able to locate the 45 yr old female not far from the store and placed her under arrest. She was charged with obtaining fraudulent prescriptions. She also had an outstanding warrant and was transported to Camden County Jail.

June 4th - An owner’s manual, insurance card, registration card and 10 CDs were reported stolen from an unlocked 2003 Honda Accord parked on Pelham Road overnight.

June 4th - Two cars were broken into on Brookmead Drive. Car manuals were reported missing.

June 4th - Two wake boards were stolen from the back of a pickup truck parked on Pelham Court. The boards were valued at more than $1,250 and were stolen between 11:00 pm on June 3rd and 9:00 am on June 4th.

June 4th - Three different cars were broken into on Red Stone Ridge. The automobiles included a 1999 Toyota Sienna and a 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The 3rd car was unspecified, but a wallet and checkbook were reported missing.

June 4th - A 1995 Honda Accord was vandalized in the Top Dog parking lot on Route 70.

June 4th - Door handles were reported stolen from a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass parked on Fries Lane.

June 3rd - Police were called to The Limited in the Cherry Hill Mall at 8:43 pm. Store employees reported 18 women’s shirts valued at $663 were stolen.

June 3rd - A handbag with credit cards, sunglasses and cell phone was stolen from a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse parked in the Ponzio’s parking lot on Route 70.

June 3rd - Cigarettes and women’s magazines were stolen from an unlocked 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche that was parked on Robwill Pass.

June 3rd - A wallet and credit cards were stolen from a 1999 Subaru parked in front of a home on Mt. Pleasant Way. The car was unlocked.

June 2nd - Two men were arrested in the Cherry Hill Mall parking lot at 12:53 pm. The 22 yr old male was charged with possession of cocaine and distribution and the 33 yr old male was charged with possession of cocaine.

June 1st - A shoplifter reportedly stole $230 in over-the-counter medications from the Pathmark on Church Road.

June 1st - A 1994 Lincoln was stopped by police on Route 70 at 8:50 am. The driver was charged with presenting a false insurance card. The suspect also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
