Polls open at 6 a.m. for presidential primary Feb. 5
The 4.8 million registered voters of the state will decide the fate of their party’s candidates when they’re called to vote in the 2008 Presidential Primary election on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Like many other states, only registered voters can vote in the primary election. Independents who wish to vote in the election must declare their affiliation to a party the day of the primary. About 2.7 million registered voters in New Jersey have not declared an affiliation to a certain party, according to government officials.
Registered Democrats will cast their votes for one of the four Democratic presidential hopefuls on the ballot.
Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Mike Gravel and Barack Obama are the official candidates on the ballot.
Dennis Kucinich dropped from the race Jan. 24.
Registered Republicans will cast their votes for one of the five Republican presidential hopefuls on the ballot. Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Ron Paul, and Mitt Romney are the official Republican candidates on the ballot.
Fred Thompson announced he was dropping out of the Republican race on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Registered voters can find their respective polling places by calling the township at 665-6500.
